Eritrea: Instances of Communicable Diseases As Well As Child and Mother Mortality On the Decline in Habero Area - Report

Habero — The inhabitants of Habero area, Northern Red Sea region, indicated that instances of communicable diseases as well as child and mother mortality rate in the locality is on the decline in line with reinforcement of health services.

Among the inhabitants, Ms. Meryem Omar, Zahra Mohammed, Fawzia Ali and Bekita Hamd explained that the number of mothers attending maternity services has shown remarkable growth following the joint promotional activities conducted in collaboration with health professionals, Area administrations, community and religious leaders as well as national Associations. They further called on mothers to adhere to consistent utilization of the available medical services.

Mr. Gebretinsae Zemichael, head of the health institution in the area, indicated that it serves more than 10,000 people, and that stepped-up efforts should be exerted as regards reinforcing the institution's impact in remote areas.
