Malawi: Multichoice Partners Airtel in BBA Awareness Campaigns

Lilongwe — Multichoice Malawi has partnered with Airtel in public awareness campaigns on the Big Brother Africa show following the people's negative attitude towards the show.

Multichoice Marketing Manager for Centre and North, MacCronnix Kaulembe expressed concern over the allegations that most people have negative perception with show as it is deemed to be promoting immorality.

"Most people seem to miss the point that Big Brother Africa is a reality show which only provides a platform for one to be who they are and does not in any way promote negative behavior while at the same time it gives representatives in the house a platform to share cultural beliefs.

"For example, Natasha had been in the house without smoking or consuming any alcohol. We have also had Code, Hazel and Lomwe who also demonstrated positive behaviour in the house." Kaulembe said.

He further explained that the show puts the representatives on the spotlight where their skills and potential talents are known by many across the continent.

He highlighted, among other advantages of the show, that Code Sangala and Hazel Warren have opened their own companies, creating job opportunities after the show put them on the spotlight.

He expressed deep concern that this attitude has affected the people's participation in the game which has had some negative impacts on the votes of our representatives.

"Our representatives would obviously have done better if Malawians had developed a positive attitude in the game.

"For example, Namibia with a population of only two million [people] has managed to see Dillish, their representative, to the top eight in the game," he said.

However, Airtel Public Relations Officer, Edith Tsirizani refused to talk to our reporter when she was contacted for confirmation.
