Nigeria: Five Almajirai Found Dead in Jigawa

Dutse — Five almajirai were yesterday found dead at Sabuwan Gwaram in Gwaram town in Birnin-Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

A resident of the area who spoke to Daily Trust on condition of anonymity said someone in the area woke up for his early morning prayers and saw the corpses of the five boys and alerted the Maigwan, who later informed the police.

The five boys who were found dead with the plates with which they went out to look for food, were between the ages of 10 and 13.

The Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Abdul Jinjiri, who confirmed the incident, said the corpses have been deposited at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for autopsy. He said occupants of the houses close to the area where the bodies were found have been picked for questioning.

He gave the names of the boys as; Basiru Malam Yunusa, 12, Mansur Yunusa, 12, Rabiu Abubakar, 13, Buhari Abubakar,10 and Bashiru Yunusa, who was13 years old.
