Nigeria: Wada Seeks Modalities On LG Autonomy

Lokoja — Kogi State Governor Idris Wada has called on the House of Representative Committee on States and Local Government Affairs to work out modalities that would ensure true local government autonomy.

The governor made the call at a two-day seminar organized by the committee in collaboration with Heritage Plus Continental Business Limited North, Central Zone, in Lokoja. The governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Olugbemiro Jegede, said the seminar is timely as it will help to provide solutions to some of the problems bedevilling local governments. Earlier, the state ALGON chairman, Aloysius Okino, represented by his secretary, Aliyu Usman, said a viable and democratic local government administration is crucial to development of rural areas.
