Evelyn Solo, a city cleaner in the city of Paynesville has been rewarded after nine years of service with the Municipal government. Evelyn's effort claimed the attention of Paynesville Mayor Cyvette Gibson, who was moved to honor the hard-working cleaner for her years of service to the City.
Presenting the award and a cash prize to Evelyn, Mayor Gibson said, the initiative is a new practice by the PCC under her leadership to recognize the efforts of people who have made sacrifices to keep the city clean.
Said Gibson: "Ms. Solo, I am pleased to let you know how much the management of this corporation recognizes the value of your performance and dedication to your hard and diligent work, your commitment to cleaning the streets of Paynesville during sun or rain brings great recognition to the face of this corporation. You have proven to be committed and loyal to your job."
Mayor Gibson called on other street cleaners and employees of the corporation to follow the steps of Solo by been dedicated and loyal to their jobs.
She also challenged the honoree to keep up the great work and promised to always recognize her efforts and that of all those who will work in bring pride to the City Corporation by restoring sanitation and dignity in the city.
Receiving the honor, Evelyn thanked the PCC for recognizing her efforts after nine years of service to the Municipal government.
She called on her colleagues to see her honor as a challenge and work harder to achieve similar honor for their dedicated services.
The honoree noted: "This honor comes to me as a surprise but I promise to continue to work harder because I know it is hard work that has brought me this honor, it is not that I am the most hardworking city cleaner but I am proud that I was selected amongst others."
Evelyn says she is a mother of five (5) children and it is her work as a Street Cleaner in the City of Paynesville that is helping her to help her husband who is out of Job hustling to sponsor them in school.
Unlike other countries where city cleaning is a well-paying job, the profession in Liberia is different.
Paynesville city is a city with over five hundred inhabitants who on a daily basis are faced with the challenge of garbage collection and keeping their communities clean.
