Southern Africa: Bicc Ready for the 33rd SADC Summit

The Ministry of Tourism and Culture says Bingu International Conference Center (BICC), venue for the 33rd Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Summit in Malawi's Capital, Lilongwe is ready to host the regional meeting.

Principal Secretary in the Ministry, Tressa Senzani said the venue which will start by hosting a meeting of the Council of Ministers and Senior Officials from August 10 to 16 that will precede the Heads of State and Government Summit has been stocked with all the necessary facilities and other pertinent amenities that are required for occasions of such magnitude.

Senzani said having been entrusted with issues of accommodation and entertainment, her ministry has made sure that BICC is furnished with quality furniture and Audio Visual gadgets that will support all the regional delegates.

"We have brought in office furniture for Executive Secretaries and chairmen, both outgoing and incoming in preparation for the summit.

"In addition, we have also fitted in all the Audio Visual equipment that is required in the Very Important People (VIP) section," said Senzani.

She said the ministry has procured new linen for the banqueting rooms at BICC in addition to dressing staff that will serve the delegates with a new uniform.

Added Senzani: "We have brought in new linen, glass ware and cooking equipment that is required for the presidential villas at the hosting facility."

Meanwhile, government has established a website, www.2013sadcsummitmalawi.mw to afford the public access to information on the summit.
