The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has been queried by the world football governing body, FIFA, demanding to know how the Nigerian Premier League is run.

FIFA's query, Tuesday, addressed to the General Secretary of the Nigerian of the NFF, Musa Amadu, follows a petition written to the global body by the former Chairman of the Nigerian Premier League, Rumson Baribote.

Mr. Baribote accused the NFF and the League Management Company of hijacking the functions of the NPL.

"The above mentioned name (NFF) has virtually hijacked our functions as the chairman and that of the elected board members of the Nigerian premier league and given same to a company of his through the instrumentality of the government on Nigeria corporate affairs commission,"he wrote in the petition to FIFA.

"Recently he went ahead with other and fraudulently registered his own private company (League management company ltd) with the rules governing the administration of football all over the world as contained in FIFA CAF NFF NPL statutes which is of a strong view that there must be an elected board to administer football even at club levels.

"It is on this note and many more information that will be revealed in the course of investigation that I humbly call on your esteemed office to immediately intervene through and objective investigation of the activities of Alhaji Aminu Maigari so as to save the game of football in Nigeria within your most convenient time," he added.

In FIFA's query to the NFF, signed by its Secretary General, Jerome Valcke, it asked the NFF to provide answers on modalities of the operations of the LMC and the current situation of the Nigerian League.

"In order for our office to get a clearer picture of the current situation, we would like to kindly request you to provide us with a report. In particular this report should include a description of any actions that have been taken by the NFF in relation to and affecting the Nigeria Premier League and/or its officers as well as details of any related action filed in an ordinary court," FIFA said.

Several calls made to the spokesperson of the NFF, Ademola Olajire, on the federation's response to FIFA's query, were not answered or returned.
