Angola: Supreme Court Chief Justice Swears in 19 Judges

Luanda — The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Cristiano André, inaugurated on Tuesday in Luanda 19 magistrates.

Speaking at the inauguration act, the Chief justice defended on the occasion the expansion of the courts network in the country for the full performance of justice, so as to bring it closer to the citizens.

According to him, the courts must be capable to better meet the demands of the society and he recognised the lack of speed in the processes, which is caused by the lack of judges and attention to the prisoners.

He considered poor the services of citizens in judicial and registration offices, saying that to overcome this situation, Cristiano André said to be urgent to invest in quality of justice operators.

Cristiano André called for the judges to always abide by principles of legality, presumption of innocence, speed, mediation and independence.
