Kenya: Chemelil Sugar Summons Technical Bench Over Poor Results

Chemelil Sugar coach Mike Mururi and his entire technical bench have been summoned by the club's top hierarchy to explain the poor performance experienced by the club in the recent past.

The sugar millers lost their third match in a row a week ago after falling 1-0 to Ulinzi Stars. Before then, they had lost 2-0 to Gor Mahia and 2-0 to Bandari.

The club's secretary general, Simon Ndungu said they are concerned with the poor performance and want an explanation from the technical bench.

"We have summoned them to appear before us on Friday (tomorrow). We don't understand why the performance has gone down considering the officials have ensured the team lacks nothing.

"We have streamlined our operations such that there are no more salary delays as it was the case in the first leg and therefore there is no excuse for the current spate of results," Ndungu said. Chemelil face Bandari on Sunday at home hoping to end their losing streak in the Kenyan Premier League. Muiruri took over this season and had a perfect start at the beginning of the season.

Meanwhile, Kenya Commercial Bank coach Abdallah Juma has praised two of his players for their massive contribution to the team's success so far. The bankers have had a good season and though they have blown hot and cold in the second leg, they have had a relatively good season and are placed seventh on the KPL log--just three points short of second place.

Coach Juma said though the entire team has given massive contribution towards their success, two of his players have played key in ensuring the team keeps producing good results. He singled out striker Jacob Kelli and defender John 'Tommy' Odhiambo for superb performance.

"Kelli has been awesome and he is one of the players, who have been the pillar of the team. He has scored goals for us which have been important for our progression.

"Were it not for the injury that slowed him down, I am sure he would have had more," Juma said of the striker who has scored eight goals for the bankers. "Tommy has also been in good form and his performance against Mathare United over the weekend proved he is one of the best left backs in the country," the coach added.

He also lauded his team for their performance against Mathare where John Odhiambo securing them a point with a late equaliser last weekend.

"We played very well and the only problem is that we don't take our chances. This is something that we are working on and before we face Homeboyz, we have to be sharp in scoring. Our progression has been okay but when it comes to scoring, we have lack sharpness."
