The Paynesville City Corporation on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 honored its best employee of the month.
Paynesville (sometimes Paynesward) is a suburb east of Monrovia, located in Liberia.
Despite being a suburb, it is geographically larger than the city of Monrovia and is currently expanding eastward along the Robertsfield Highway and northeastward beyond Red Light Market.
Having the population of over 314,000 inhabitants, Paynesville was the location of the Paynesville Omega Transmitter, the highest structure of Africa, until the tower's demolition in 2011.
It is also known for the Redlight Market commercial district, one of the largest market areas in Liberia. The Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex, recently renovated by the Chinese government, is located in Paynesville. The Liberia Broadcasting System is also located in Paynesville.[1] Paynesville is also home to many popular beaches, restaurants, hotels and night clubs.
Introduced by new City Mayor Madam Cyvette Gibson, the Employee of the Month is a monthly award given to the hardest working and most committed employee of the PCC during that particular month. The award, which is usually given on the last day of every month, was won by one Madam Evelyn Solo of the Sanitation Department of the PCC. Madam Solo has worked at the PCC for nine years.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Mayor Gibson said the initiative is an idea employed by the city management to motivate its employee to work harder. Madam Gibson lauded the winner of the July Worker (Madam Solo) for her tireless effort in helping to give the Paynesville City a facelift.
For her part, the PCC Employee of the Month, who responded in tears of joy, expressed gratitude to the PCC management for recognizing her effort.
"I am so happy to be the recipient of this award today. This is my first time since I was employed her for the past nine years to be recognized in such a faction. I am so grateful to the PCC management, especially the leadership of Madam Cyvette Gibson," said the award winner.
"This award is going to serve as a motivation for me to do more. Most besides, I am also going to encourage my colleagues to double up their efforts, because they, too, can be a winner tomorrow," she added.
