Sierra Leone: Moneygram Agents Donate to the Aged

Agents of MoneyGram service in Sierra Leone yesterday donated items worth millions of Leones to the King George IV Memorial Home at Grafton in the east of the city. The items donated include 10 bags of rice, 10 bags of onions, 10 gallons of palm oil and assorted food items.

According to Kelvin Roberts of Premier Media Consultancy, the gesture was MoneyGram's little contribution to the aged in observance of the holy month of Ramadan and to also ensure that inmates of the home are well fed on a daily basis.

He stated that the donation was also part of MoneyGram's corporate social responsibility of giving back to their customers for their loyal patronage, adding: "We have always been giving our little support to the King George IV Memorial Home."

He disclosed that MoneyGram currently has the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, Rokel Commercial Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, United Bank for Africa, Bank PHB and Afro International as their agents in the country.

Representatives from the agents expressed their delight to be associated with a service that is fast and reliable, noting that one can send or receive money within 10minutes.

"We decided to join the MoneyGram service because of its reliability. We want to assure our customers that their money will be delivered safely and in the shortest possible time if they choose to use the service," they stated.

Receiving the gesture, Home Manager, Jarret Williams, expressed his thanks and appreciation, on behalf of the inmates, to MoneyGram and assured that the items donated will be used for the intended purpose.

This should be well monitored so the bulk of this noble gesture does walk out the compound as it came. The British Council should also contribute generously to that institution for the aged. Afterward it is King George the IV establishment.
