Kenya: Locals Warned Over Garbage

The Naivasha sub-county administration has issued a warning to institutions and area residents dumping their waste irresponsibly.

Environment officer Stephen Njuguna attributed the perennial blockage of sewer lines and drainage systems in the town to the reckless disposal of garbage.

In a notice, Njuguna said that was the last warning to those responsible for such habit.

He said those breaking the by-law will be prosecuted.

Njuguna said they had provided workers and lorries to be collecting the garbage on daily basis and there is no reason why garbage should be scatted all over the town.

"Notice is hereby given that you have been dumping waste from your households irresponsibly and in contravention of the municipal by-laws," reads the notice.
