Top youngsters in the country are expected to converge at Sigona Golf Club for Kenya Junior Matchplay Championship slated for August 13-16, Ashwin Gidoomal, the Junior Golf Foundation Kenya (JGF) chairman announced yesterday.
JGF got a shot in the arm yesterday when Kingsway Tyres donated Sh150,000 towards the organisation of the event. JGF in collaboration with Kingsway Tyres, signed a 3-year sponsorship deal for the Kenya Junior Matchplay Championship--which is a world amateur golf ranking competition and one of the prestigious junior competitions in Kenya today. Speaking during the partnership launch at Kenya Golf Union offices at the Muthaiga, Gidoomal thanked Kingsway for their donation.
Aashit Shah, the new Kingsway Tyres CEO said the youth of today need to be given the support and attention to excel in all aspects of their lives.
"Sporting activities like golf helps to develop the children all-round in becoming better leaders," said Aashit.
"We aim to support JGF this year and in the next few years by sponsoring junior tournaments across the country which will encourage junior golfers to participate and raise their level of competition for future events."
KGU chairman, Francis Okwara said the future of golf in the country rests with Junior Golf Development programme.
