MDC-T president Morgan Tsvangirai has described the general elections as a "life or death" vote as he cast his ballot at Mount Pleasant High School.

Zimbabweans are voting today in a crucial elections which pit President Robert Mugabe of Zanu PF, Morgan Tsvangirai of the MDC-T, Welshman Ncube of MDC and Dumiso Dabengwa of Zapu in the presidential contest.

Tsvangirai, who arrived just after 10am with his wife Elizabeth said: "It is an historic moment for everyone to complete the delayed runoff from 2008."

Addressing the media after casting his vote, Tsvangirai said that it was a very emotional moment for him seeing a large number of people who have come to cast their vote and expressed confidence that everyone would vote by the end of day regardless of the long queues.

Meanwhile MDC president Welshman Ncube expressed scepticism over Mugabe's promise to surrender power should he lose today's elections.

MDC-T organising secretary Nelson Chamisa has also claimed that Zimbabweans coming from South Africa to cast their vote have been barred from entering the country with five buses stuck at the border.
