Kenya: Thika Police Kill Suspects, Recover Rifle

Police in Thika yesterday morning shot dead three suspects at Ngoingwa estate. Two however escaped. Thika OCPD boss Paul Leting said wananchi saw the suspects driving in a car they suspected to have been stolen and alerted the police. The suspects started shooting at the officers when ordered to surrender.

Leting said police recovered two toy pistols, an AK47 rifle and the suspects' car. Police launched a manhunt or the two who had run away and  apprehended one. The gang has been linked to recent abduction in Thika, Juja and Ruiru. The three bodies were taken to Thika morgue. Leting said the suspect is being interrogated by police and will be charged with violent robbery and carjacking.
