Sierra Leone swimming team captain, Sahr James followed his teammate Osman Kamara as they both failedvto qualify to the next round of the FINA/Omega World Championship in Barcelona, Spain. Kamara on Tuesday failed to qualify to the next round after he swum a time of 35.66sec in the 50m butterfly. And on Wednesday, captain James swum 37.26 in the 50m breast stroke and was ranked 78th position.
However, despite their failure to qualify in their respective events, the pair - according to the Sierra Leone Swimming Association secretary general, Mohamed Turay - now have their electronic time in the database of the world governing body, FINA. Turay further revealed that the Italian coach Mario Franchi was satisfied with their performance, especially considering the lack of chances they had while undergoing training in Freetown after the stadium management refused them using the facility.
He said: "We had to pay a lot of money for use of the Ivorian Fire Force swimming pool in Abidjan for four days because our stadium management refused the swimmers the chance to use their facility."
