Sierra Leone: Constituency 64 MP Donates to Muslims

Ruling All People's Congress (APC) member of parliament representing Constituency 64 in the Tonkolili District has over the weekend donated food items and cleaning tools worth over Le20 million to his constituents.

The donated items include 47 bags of rice, 24 bags of sugar, 4 cartons of mayonnaise, 2 cartons of cocoa powder, a carton of tin milk, 16 Chinese lamps, 4 dozens of shovel, one dozen pick axes, cartons of batteries and Le1 million cash as transportation to convey the items to the respective chiefdoms.

According to Hon. Bai Justin Kaloko, the items donated were meant to assist Muslims that are fasting in the constituency. He expressed thanks and appreciation to the people for voting him to promote and protect their interest in the house of parliament.

Hon. Kaloko stated that with the help of the paramount chief, councilors and the people, the APC party now has an office space in the constituency, and urged the people to make good use of the facility which was primarily constructed for them.

"This gesture is my own little provision to those that are observing the holy month of Ramadan in the constituency. It is my hope that the beneficiaries will make good use of it," he said, while admonishing parents and guardians to send their children to school to get quality education.

The MP commended Transcend Mining Company for providing 40 scholarships for pupils in junior and senior secondary school level as well as those in tertiary institutions, and for renovating mosques, market centers and constructing water wells in three villages in the district. He implored his constituents to be patient as he is currently lobbying on their behalf for development projects to be taken to the area.

APC Constituency Chairman, Bai Konto Koroma, commended the MP for associating with the people in a bid to address some of their concerns. He urged the paramount chief to work closely with all stakeholders in the community to fast-track development and promote unity among the people. Earlier in his welcome address, the party's Chiefdom Chairman, William Conteh, disclosed that Paramount Chief Bai Kafari II, on behalf of his chiefdom, donated Le350,000 for the renovation of the party secretariat.
