Kenya: Kaimenyi Calls for Balance in Public University Appointments

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi has asked councils managing public universities and other state agencies under the Ministry of Education to ensure that appointments reflect the state of Kenya.

Kaimenyi said the institutions should ensure regional, ethnic and gender balance in appointments.

The Education Cabinet Secretary was speaking at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development to the chairpersons of councils and boards that manage public universities and government agencies under the education ministry He also asked the university management to ensure the quality of education and training they gave to students met the needs of the constitution and Vision 2030.

Kaimenyi further asked them to hold regular consultations with all stakeholders of their various institutions to address the problems and concerns they had with the management, saying this was the only way to deal with management problems.
