Cairo — The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI), denounces the continuation of the Moroccan authorities in abusing the dissent activists, as a number of 20 February movement were beaten by the security authorities in addition to seizing and taking their possessions and also arresting number of them in the City of Fez.
The movement of February 20 decided to organize a convoy on Tuesday 30 July, to starting from Casablanca and went to Faz, in which several human rights activists participated to show solidarity with the activist Adebah El-Qabely, the member of the preparatory committee to the Moroccan association for human rights Faz branch and the member of the movement against the backdrop of the sexual assault, she suffered on Friday 19.
last July, and once the activists arrived at the train station of Faz, the security forces were waiting them, that beaten them and arrested some of them in addition to take some of their belongingness and confiscate their passports and the Ids of some of them. They authorities accused them of publicity breaking the fast of Ramadan in front of the passers in order to prevent people from sympathizing with them.
This assault and abuse that were suffered by the activists aimed to prevent them from organizing a solidarity protest that they intended to held it in Faz to show solidarity with the activist "Adebah", that is resulted in the injuries of 9 activists among who participated in the convoy.
ANHRI said that "the security authorities may be involved in the sexual assault that was suffered by Adebah by members affiliated to such authorities, so instead of feeling ashamed from its failure to providing the protection to the activists, the authorities assault who show solidarity with them to prevent their protests, which is a heinous crime against the citizens and a serious violation against the freedom of expression and the peaceful assembly".
ANHRI demands from the authorities to quickly investigate the face and bring the responsible to the trial in addition to announce the results of the investigations to the public opinion.
