Carthage — Al-Joumhouri Party Secretary-General Maya Jribi said on Thursday that "the situation in Tunisia is extremely serious, which requires urgent solutions."
Mrs. Jribi added that Tunisia is today in need of a new form of governance rather than extending the government.
She pointed out that Al-Joumhouri calls for the formation of a national salvation government whose members will undertake not to stand for the next elections.
This government, she explained, will be tasked with fighting terrorism, political violence, dissolving the Leagues for the Protection of the Revolution, finishing off the Constitution and holding free and transparent elections.
Maya Jribi was accompanied by Al-Joumhouri Political Committee Chairman Ahmed Néjib Chebbi.
Earlier on Monday, President Marzouki invited all the political class to honour the historical events Tunisia is going through and overcome divisions, so that the Tunisian people could fight terrorism.
In a televised address following the terrorist attack at Mount Chaambi, President Marzouki called on the civil society, more particularly the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), the various stakeholders in the national dialogue and political parties to overcome grudges and ill-feelings.
