Egypt: Govt Assigns Interior Ministry to Disperse Rabaa, Al-Nahda Sit-Ins

In an important statement following its meeting on Wednesday 31/7/2013 under Prime Minister Hazem el-Biblawy, the Cabinet announced that all necessary measures would be launched for dispersing Rabaa al-Adaweya and al-Nahda sit-ins.

The cabinet has assigned Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim to take the necessary measures in line with law and the constitution provisions.

The statement, announced by Minister of Information Dr Dorreya Sharaf Eddin, said the continuation of the current dangerous positions in Rabaa al-Adaweya and al-Nahda squares, the ensuring terrorist acts, and blocking roads are no longer acceptable in view of the threats posed to the Egyptian national security and unacceptable intimidation of citizens.

The statement said based on the popular mandate given by the people for dealing with terrorism and violence which are threatening disintegration of the state, the collapse of the homeland, maintaining national security, preserving the State supreme interests, maintaining social peace and citizens security, the Cabinet decided taking all necessary measures for staving off these risks and putting an end to them.

The statement said the Minister of Interior is assigned to take all necessary measures in line with the provisions of law and the constitution.
