Tanzania: Babu Wins AGC Caddy Golf Title

BABU Laicer displayed excellent skills to win his third Caddy Golf tournament trophy at the Arusha Gymkhana Club (AGC) early this week. Handicap-6 Laicer fired one-under par 71 nett to win the weekly title at the 18 holes stroke play tournament held at the course.

The win helps him join Amani James who claimed an elusive triple weekly Caddy Golf title last week. Handicap-9 James, who became the first player to win a triple and back to back title, could not maintain a clean sheet he recorded during the previous two consecutive weeks as he managed only 81 nett this time around to settle at the overall 14th position.

Isaac Wanyeche handicap-4, who had clinched two trophies, finished overall runner-up after posting level par 72 nett. Wanyeche, a brother of national ladies team ace HawaWanyeche, also become the lowest gross scorer of the day with 76.

Handicap-14 Salvador Samweli carded one-over 73 nett to finish overall third while another handicap-14 Winston Silanga was placed fourth overall with 76. Innocent Temu handicap-17 and national team member Jimmy Mollel scratch handicap finished overall fifth and sixth with 76 and 78 netts respectively.

Jimmy returned to the tournament this week after missing it for several weeks together with other national team member John Leonce scratch handicap, who also carded 78 but was beaten on count-back.

The week also missed the service of national team ace and July 10 winner NuruMollel handicap plus one for the third consecutive week. Nuru went to Mombasa to participate in the Coast Open in which he could not perform to his best form.
