The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Police Force yesterday said it is poised to rid all portions of the State of all forms of criminal activities. The public relations officer of the police, ASP Lucky Uyabeme, disclosed this while reacting to media report(s) on the discovery of human skulls by police detectives around Okwe, near Asaba, explained that it would no longer be "business as usual" for all forms of criminal activities, especially kidnapping and armed robbery.
Uyabeme denied the reports that human skulls were recovered in Okwe, and explained, rather, that it was a pot of concoction that was uncovered. He revealed that 23 robbery suspects have been arrested within the last three months of 'operation rid-off criminals,' which was recently introduced to ensure a crime-free state.
"I want to call on indigenes/residents in Delta to desist from acts capable of truncating the peace and security agenda of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan," Uyabeme said, stressing that those who aid and abet any form of criminality will have the police to contend with.
On the Warri/Ijaw/Itsekiri crisis, the police spokesman decried the crisis and enjoined Deltans, particularly, residents of the area, not to allow tribal sentiments derail the peace and unity in the State, and assured that normalcy had since returned to the area.
