Uganda: UBL Boosts Kabaka's Coronation With Sh100 Million

Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), under its flagship brand Bell Larger, has injected Shs 100m as lead sponsor for Kabaka Ronald Mutebi's 20th coronation anniversary.

Although the real anniversary was on July 31, the celebrations will take place on August 3 at Bulange, Mengo in Kampala. Speaking during the announcement, UBL Marketing Director Grace Nshemeire Gwaku said their ongoing partnership with Buganda kingdom provides an excellent opportunity to associate their brand values with the experience and excitement of the history and tradition of Buganda.

Receiving the cheque, Buganda's spokesperson Denis Walusimbi Ssengendo thanked Bell for its continued commitment and support to the kingdom's activities such as Enkuuka ya CBS and Kabaka's cup among others, over the years.

"Bell Larger and the Buganda kingdom share a long, rich heritage and we are pleased to be partners again in this important and historic event," said Walusimbi.

With over 10 other big companies sponsoring the event, Walusimbi said this year's sponsorship has been low compared to the previous years.

"Business is generally low in the country and we contacted these companies so late, yet they had already drafted programmes for other businesses," he explained.

This annual event, that is highly regarded and attended by thousands of people, will mark two decades since Ronald Muwenda Mutebi was enthroned at Naggalabi on July 31, 1993 to become the 36th Kabaka of Buganda.
