Saturday evening, music, fashion and poetry will come together at Jazz Ville bar and restaurant in Bugolobi in a show dubbed, Affaire de' Citron (French, for Lemon Affair).
Myko Ouma and Susan Kerunen will bring the soul/jazz/afro fusion to the event organised to support the Uganda Rotaract club's hand washing awareness projects. The band, Fusion Illusion, will perform along with other artistes, such as Rema and Kerunen.
According to Castle Events, the organisers, the theme of the performances will be, "A taste of the forbidden fruit in coastal paradise" - tapping into the coastal experience and bringing it alive in the most unlikely place, Kampala.
This is an inaugural event, which is set to happen annually.
Apart from supporting Rotaract Club's projects, the event will also seek to bring together the 'dotcom' and the 'boom box' generations, creating a bittersweet co-existence thus the name Lemon Affair. And the artistes have been selected to offer a blend of both generations.
The reasons behind Rotaract Club's hand washing awareness project is to reduce the preventable disease burden arising from poor hygiene by 10 per cent within a year, to increase awareness about hand washing and to increase accessibility of hand washing facilities.
Proceeds from the event will go towards this cause. Tickets cost Shs 50,000 and gates open at 6pm.
