The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo has appealed to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chiefs Executives (MMDCEs), to desist from giving preferential treatment to some traditional rulers over others.
"Shun the divide and rule tactics and instead include all stakeholders in taking critical decisions." he added.
Hon. Afotey Agbo made the appeal when he officially met District Chief Executives at a meeting of MMDCEs in Ho yesterday.
He said traditional rulers commanded so much respect from their subjects so any attempt to give priority to one over the other could be chaotic and also stall government's development agenda.
The minister charged the MMDCs to device innovative means of generating funds internally for developmental projects rather than relying on the meagre district assembly common fund and also ensure that the funds were utilised judiciously for the benefit of the people.
He urged the MMDCEs to be abreast of laws on the Local government systems in order to avoid conflicts with their administrative staffs.
The Regional Minister who is also the Member of Parliament for Kpone Katamanso appealed to the MMDCEs to alert the security agencies and experts on all traits of security threats so they could be nipped in the bud.
He also cautioned them against arrogance and disrespect, adding, "your offices alone command great respects so you don't need to raise your shoulders to show your power."
Mr Gunu thanked the President for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to "serve in all humility".
The meeting continued behind closed doors and it was believed to offer the regional minister and his deputy, the opportunity to interact with the MMDCEs on ways to improve upon their performances towards achieving the Better Ghana Agenda.
