Carthage — Caretaker President Moncef Marzouki received, on Thursday in the Palace of Carthage, official spokesperson for "Al-Mahaba" Movement Said Kharchoufi.

The meeting is part of a series of consultations held with representatives of political parties to discuss Tunisia's current crisis.

"Our party is as matter of principle against changing the government, though we accept it if this will help save the country," Kharchoufi said at the end of his meeting with the President, stressing the need that the new government should win the approval of the National Constituent Assembly (NCA).

He affirmed that what is important now is to focus on the elections, create an election authority and adopt an election law. He added that his party rejects any violation of democracy.

Kharchoufi called for going to the polls to settle disputes between politicians.
