Tunisia: CPR's Imed Daimi - NCA Is Red Line Not Subject to Bargaining

Carthage — The National Constituent Assembly (NCA) is a redline line that cannot be the subject of bargaining, Secretary General of the Congress for the Republic (CPR) party Imed Daimi Said on Thursday, stressing the need to keep attached to legitimate institutions issued from the October 23, 2011 elections.

"The CPR supports the formation of a national unity government with the Troika party and political partners that share the same choices," he stressed after a meeting with Caretaker President Moncef Marzouki.

He also highlighted the opportunity offered to other political forces to join the ruling coalition.

"Our party rejects any attempt to come to power outside elections," he added, considering that the terrorist operations and political assassinations in Tunisia aim to "sow chaos and reverse the process of democratic transition."

He stressed his party's commitment to participate in any dialogue called upon by the Presidency of the Republic to find solutions to the political crisis in Tunisia after the killing of eight soldiers in Mount Chaambi and the assassination of Mohamed Brahmi.
