Nigeria: Ogun PDP Faults Injunction Granted Oyinlola

2 August 2013

Abeokuta — The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on thursday faulted the ex parte order granted a former National Secretary of the party, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, by an Osun State High Court, sitting in Osogbo.

A statement by its Chairman, Mr. Adebayo Dayo and Secretary, Alhaji Semiu Sodipo, who were the plaintiffs in the suit that sacked Oyinlola, stated that while they agreed with Oyinlola that the PDP special convention committee could not conduct election into the office of the national secretary, as argued by Oyinlola, the court had no jurisdiction to hear the case. The party said the Osun court was not the one that sat over the initial suit that sacked Oyinlola, hence it could not seek to preserve what it did not give in the first instance.
