Kenya: Boda Bodas to Be Monitored

2 August 2013

The government has given all boda boda operators in Garissa a one month ultimatum to register. Addressing hundreds of the operators in Garissa town yesterday, Garissa base commandant Ramadhan Mjomba said the move will enhance security in the town.

The traffic boss said criminals use boda boda to escape after committing crimes hence the need to keep track of all of them to curb the insecurity. "We need to know who is operating within this town, we need to have your personal details and those of the motorcycles you are riding," said Mjomba. He said the curfew that was imposed by the government in May allowing boda boda riders to operate until 6pm is still in place.
