Nominated senator Emma Mbura claims her life is in danger.
She says a rival from the opposition party has hatched a plot with the CID to kill because she questioned delays in salary payment of striking Mombasa county council workers. strike caused by delay in payments of salaries.
The nominated senator revealed this during the 100th celebrations of Giriama heroine Mekatilili Menza in Bungale on Tuesday. She had expected to be named after the heroine who led in the rebellion against the British in 1913.
She said the plot to kill her are meant to prevent her from revealing the truth about mismanagement of funds and corruption in Mombasa county that contributed to a worker's strike.
Mbura claims her problems started after she wrote to Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho asking why the workers had not been paid and the claims that the authorities had no funds.
"I wrote the letter seeking official communication from the governor because people were suffering without pay, others even celebrated IDD without their salaries ,"she said in a telephone interview when the Star called her yesterday.
The alleged killer however she said did not succeed to get support of executing her. Some other people she said informed her bodyguard about the plot and she reported the matter at Lang'ata police station on August this year while on her way to Kisumu.
