Keren — The Prison and Rehabilitation Center in Anseba region said that it is striving to promote the production capacity of prisoners on the basis of regular academic activities and training courses. It made the statement in connection with a recent graduation ceremony of prisoners who have been attending academic activities in the course of the past academic year.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Samuel Mebrahtu, director of the school in the center, disclosed that 85% of the prisoners who attended High School classes obtained passing marks, and that 10 prisoners sat for the National General Examination. He further pointed out that training courses involving basics of Arabic language and computer were rendered in a well-equipped environment.
Capt. Ogbai Gebregzibher, head of Administration in the center, outlined the future undertakings thereof, and that more efforts would be made in this regard.
A number of activities were staged on the occasion, while prisoners who demonstrated excellence in their academic pursuits and sports contests received awards.
