The Red Protocol, an elite event management outfit has concluded arrangement to roll out a magazine meant to keep the search light on all governors of the 36 states of the federation, and keep the nation informed on what the governors are doing.
Vice president of the company and editor in chief of the magazine, Etinosa Sam Onaiwu, said in Abuja that the magazine titled, Governors' Mandate, is a new addition to the existing subsidiaries of the outfit, which also include event management, television and reputation management.
He said the magazine has come to stay, having been printed three times, and that the governors have given the publication their blessing.
"With time, everything the governors do in their states will be open to the people, because Governors' Mandate is a no-holds-barred publication, saddled with the burden to inform the people of the activities of governors, and make them answerable to the people who voted them in to a greater degree.
"If this is done, three things will be achieved: one, the people will be more informed, correctly, if I must add, about the activities of the state governors. The people can make reasonable conclusions (whether negative or positive) about the information they have gathered. Three, on the strength of the information which they have gathered, the polity can either call their governors to order, or decide if they have performed creditably to deserve their votes at the next polls," Onaiwu said.
He added that the aim of the publication is to put the governors in the spotlight and create more awareness, apart from monitoring their activities.
"The philosophy behind Governors' Mandate is to make the governors sit-up and take note of those who voted them into office. The magazine, is sort of a watchdog, to keep the governors on a leash, and to give kudos where it is due this is why we are making the magazine free and hoping advertisers understand the vision and help support this contribution to democratic discuss," he added.
He said that at the end of the year there will be a third annual Governors Mandate Awards for Legacy in good governance which the work of the magazine will help in identifying those who have done well.
