Isiolo county government has been urged to address low education standards in the area. Al Falah Islamic Founda- tion coordinator Ahmed Set said this will help students excel in their academic work.
Speaking during the opening of the annual education and leadership congress at the Equity Bank, Isiolo branch, Set asked students who qualified for the Equity sponsorship to be role models in their schools. He said the county and the national governments have key roles to play in improving education in Isiolo.
"We want the professionals and politicians to spare some of their time to meet, encourage and support students in order to motivate them," said Set. Isiolo Deputy Governor Mohamed Gulled, who opened the congress, decried poor education standards. He said his government will set aside Sh30 million for bursaries. He hailed Equity scholar- ship programme for sup- porting education. Gulled said the bursaries will give poor students from a chance to excel in life.
