Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete made several changes to his permanent secretary portfolios Wednesday (August 21st), Tanzania's The Citizen reported.
Kikwete promoted ten deputies to permanent secretaries. He also re-assigned three permanent secretaries to new portfolios, and asked Patrick Rutabanzibwa of the Ministry of Land, Housing and Human Settlements Development step down voluntarily, said Chief Secretary Ombeni Sefue, who announced the changes at a news conference in Dar es Salaam.
Kikwete also appointed 14 new deputy permanent secretaries and re-assigned five to new portfolios.
Sefue said the changes were effective immediately and designed to improve the government's performance, according to Tanzania's The Guardian.
