The offices of the Frontpageafrica newspaper in Monrovia was shut down at about 10:45 AM local time on Friday, August 23, 2013. The closure of the newspaper comes a few days after the Publisher and Managing Editor, Rodney Sieh, was incarcerated at the Monrovia Central prison.

Rodney Sieh, had maintained that he did not trust the judicial system and before his arrested and the closure of the newspaper noted: "We are in the process of bracing ourselves for the worst."
"In the meantime, our lawyers are in the process of preparing a case to go to the ECOWAS human rights court for an appeal. With the help of the London-based Media Defense Fund, we are taking this matter to the ECOWAS Court" .
Rodney Sieh said he has also written letters to a number of international organizations and leaders, including US President Barack Obama.
