Egypt Faces Difficult Transitional Period - FM

Egypt's Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy said on Thursday that Egypt is going through a difficult transitional period which requires changing the priorities in its foreign policy.

In an exclusive interview with Russia Today TV, Fahmy asserted that Egypt encountered terrorist attacks, including the killing of 25 soldiers in North Sinai, burning hospitals and sabotaging banks and public facilities.

"These acts aimed at intimidating the Egyptian citizens", the minister said.

The situation in Sinai is complicated and there are terrorist groups, he said, adding that security arrangements are being reorganized at different areas in Sinai.

Asked about the Muslim Brotherhood, Fahmy said that the legal status of the group is being studied.
