Sierra Leone: OCTEA 'Takes Over' Tankoro - Kono Residents Decry Govt Neglect

Affected property owners in Kono where formerly Koidu Holdings, now OCTEA mining company operates, are not satisfied with the expansion of the operations of the company to some other parts of Tankoro, thus calling on government's intervention especially as the company has witnessed series of violence over the past years with little or no effort by authorities to harmoniously address the situation.

Reports have it that since the commencement of its operations, OCTEA mining has allegedly not made much difference in addressing the welfare and high poverty rate among people living in the company's operational area, hence the acrimonious relationship existing between company officials and property owners.
