Big Brother Africa season 8 also known as The Chase started on the 26th of May 2013 at 6pm (Nigerian time) with 28 housemates from 14 African countries namely: Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. These housemates were expected to live with each other for 91 days.
Each country had 2 representatives but as the game progressed, some of the chasemates, as they were later called bade goodbye thereby ending their dreams of winning the $300, 000 prize money.
As the game dragged on making days turned into weeks, weeks into months, so many "fell" by the wayside. The number dropped until it became five. And finally, the day everyone has been waiting for is here THE FINALE. Africa has waited patiently for this day to come.
Each of these final five housemates has had their own fair share of controversies, trials, fun, and happiness in the house. And they have all made history in one way or the other during the duration of the show. One of them Beverly Ada Osu has made history by being the first housemate in the history of BBA to make it through to the finale without ever facing possible eviction. Elikem on the other hand, made history too by being the first Ghanaian to make it to the finale. However, Melvin Oduah of Nigeria has been tipped to be the winner of this year's season. New Media was able to capture some of his fans' reactions in the social media world. This is what they said:-.
Josephine Egbejule, Delta State: "For me they are eligible from different angles, but Melvin and Dillish are the freest, less desperate ones for the cash. In other words, these 5 are cool. Keep voting for your most favorite and leave God to crown the winner. Good luck to them all"
