A nine-year-girl, who had been tortured to near death and locked up by her step-mother, has been rescued by Justice and Peace, a Kampala Archdiocese-founded organization.
Patricia Nakirya Kasoma, the daughter of one Peter Kasoma Ssaalongo of Bulo-Katooke village in Butambala District, was allegedly tortured by her step-mother Betty Nalwadda Nalongo Kasoma, 48. Kasoma is said to be a taxi driver at Nsangi-Kyengera stage in Nateete Taxi Park.
Nakirya, who was on Friday admitted to Mild May Centre in Lweza on Entebbe Road, was found in a critical condition. She was paralyzed hence unable to stand or walk.
When the New Vision visited Nakirya at the hospital on Saturday, she was being fed through a tube inserted through her nose. Efforts to get a comment from medics on her condition by press time were futile. However, Nakirya had some noticeable cuts on her head and body.
