The Interior Ministry issued a high security alert ahead of planned rallies by the Muslim Brotherhood on Friday, security sources said. A series of meetings were held at the ministry in preparation for the protests.
The meetings were attended by Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim and top security leaders.
Police officers will be deployed to secure public facilities, police stations, embassies and government headquarters around the country.
The ministry plans to intensify its presence and to apply additional shifts to carry out the security plan on Thursday 29/8/2013, the resources added.
