Mbarara municipality MP Dr. Merdard Bitekyerezo has asked government to ban the importation of Kuber, a new narcotic drug of the Indian origin currently sold on the Uganda market.
Bitekyerezo told Parliament that the drug, disguised as a mouth freshner is being sold freely on the market despite its high addictive contents. He said, the drug is packed in sachets similar to tea leaves pouches and is mainly consumed by students and tax drivers.
"The nicotine-rich stimulant makes people high. Users say it is stronger than marijuana. If Government does not take action now, our children are in big trouble," he said tabling a sample on the floor of parliament.
