Nbr — Upper Baddibou District Women Federation on Wednesday descend on President Jammeh's two hectare Groundnut Farm at Chamen Village in North Bank Region (NBR). Speaking to the Daily Observer, the District chief, Ebrima Ansu Tamba Jammeh lauded the Women of the district for their commitment to the development of the country noting that farming is the only to achieve food self-sufficiency in the region. He commended them for their love and loyalty to the président, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yaya AJJ Jammeh. Kumba Jallow, the lady councillor, noted that women participation in farming is crucial to the realisation of the self-sufficiency in the country. She said the her Federation is responding to President Jammeh's back to land call, describing the gesture as the most reliable way of attaining food security.
For her part, Safy Secka of Farafenni called on the women of the country to take advantage of the numerous opportunities accorded to them and venture into serious farming. She commended the women for their positive response to the Gambian leader's back to the land clarion call. madam secka further urged the women to remain steadfast and work hard for the development of all sectors of the society. Amie Ceesay, of Jerekaw, Ajie Haddy Touray of Maka Farafenni and Mariama Danfa of Illiasa all expressed similar sentiments.
