A ward representative in Meru county has called upon the Kenya Rural Roads Authority to repair roads in his constituency.
Speaking to residents at the county assembly grounds on Thursday, Timau ward representative Geoffrey Kinoti said the 5.7km Mia Moja-Kithithina road in Buuri constituency is impassable.
He said the contractor did a shoddy job as the road was upgraded a few months ago at a cost of Sh1.7 million.
"The culverts recently constructed by the contactor are not backfilled and others are put in wrong places hence no water flows through them and it ends up destroying the road," Kinoti said.
He said such works need to be supervised by the county government which will ensure it is perfectly done. The Meru County Assembly has been calling for transfer of responsibilities from the Transition Authority. The assembly accused KeRRA of hiring out-graders that were to be used to repair roads in Meru county to Baragoi and Nyahururu.
