Somalia: Puntland Authorities Arrest Journalist, Photographer

British-Somali journalist Jamal Muhumed Osman and Dutch-Somali photojournalist Ahmed Farah were arrested Thursday (August 29th) by Puntland regional authorities in Garowe, Somalia's Radio Dalsan reported.

Osman and Farah were intending to report on piracy and the upcoming elections before they were detained by Puntland security forces.

They were carrying the necessary documents from the Puntland Ministry of Information to conduct journalism in the region, said Said Nuh Muse, a journalist with Voice of America.

He added that the reasons for their arrest were unclear.
