Violence erupted in Moyale just hours after the Kenyan Ministry of Interior said the government would use force if necessary to end the ongoing fighting in the area, Kenya's Capital FM reported Friday (August 30th).
Peter Outa of the Kenya Red Cross said there were reports of gunfire throughout the day in Butiye village in Moyale.
"A meeting held yesterday in Moyale had resolved that political leaders will take lead in appealing for ceasefire in the area," the ministry said Friday via Twitter. "But if they fail to convince their people, the govt will move in at all costs to restore normalcy and save the lives of innocent Kenyans."
Three hundred houses in Manyatta, Heilu, Odda and Sessi villages were reportedly set on fire during clashes on Tuesday.
In the past week, at least six people were killed in clashes between the Borana and Gabra communities in Moyale.
