Within the context of the efforts exerted for improving the citizens' living conditions, activating the national economy and luring more local and Arab investments, the government is carrying out intensive activities to accomplish a number of important projects with the aim of realizing social justice, ensure new job opportunities for youth and meet the urgent needs of various governorates nationwide.
Minister of Finance Ahmed Galal said that the government will announce over the coming few days the socio-economic plan to be implemented within six months with the aim of accelerating the national economy wheel.
The aggregate investments of the plan hit some LE 85 billion, allocated for establishing the infrastructure that would benefit the coming generations and accomplish the standing and suspended projects with the contribution of some Arab countries, he added.
The plan also aims at activating the national economy through luring more investments, especially in projects of social dimension, according to the minister.
Galal pinpointed that an economic high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates will visit Egypt to discuss financing a number of projects to be offered by the government over the coming period, saying that Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait have entrusted the delegation to probe extending the necessary finance for a number of the plan's projects designed to realize social justice.
The projects envisage extending portable water to some deprived areas, especially in Upper Egypt, supplying slums with sanitary drainage, illuminating villages and extending utilities to a number of the standing industrial zones, according to the Finance Minister, affirming the government's commitment to implement the wage minimum program.
On the other side, it was decided to confine the urgent projects needed by some Egyptian governorates over the coming six months to be enlisted in the government's urgent plan of the neediest governorates. These include road pavement, enlightening small villages, improving environment, as well as covering canals and drains found in housing areas.
Local development Minister Adel Labib said these projects will be confined within one week and to be implemented within six to nine months so as to realize a marked improvement in all development fields and offer more jobs.
