President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has made new appointments in government sending former Acting City Mayor Mary Broh as Director-General of the General Services Agency, and dismissing the Chairman of the National Investment Commission, Mr. O. Natty B. Davis, Jr.
She also appointed the commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization (BIN), Ms. Abla Gadegbeku-Williams as Director of the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission, replacing Cllr. Wheatonia Y. Dixon-Barnes, pending confirmation.
Prior to Mary Broh's position as interim chairman of the reopened Bureau of Vital Statistics, President Sirleaf was constrained to withdraw her reappointment as City Major of Monrovia after the news divided the legislature and generated intense public interests and concerns.
Already, ahead of her confirmation, Ms. Mary Broh has vowed to ensure that government vehicles and other public assets are not abused or misused.
"The use of government vehicles at night at various entertainment centers must stop under my stewardship. "We will need members of the public to inform us where government assets are kept or hidden by individuals, most especially at night," she told this paper.
