The Chiefs and people of Oborpa West, in the Lower Manya Krobo District in the Eastern Region, have received a clinic in the municipality with joy.
Funded by Ghacem Limited, under the auspices of the Governing Council of the Ghacem Cement Foundation (GCF), the clinic, according to the leading cement manufacturer is aimed at improving healthcare delivery in the municipality.
Present to hand over the edifice were top management of Ghacem, including the Managing Director, Mr. Morten Gade, the Strategy and Corporate Affairs Director, Dr. George Dawson-Ahmoah, Chairman of the Ghacem Cement Foudation, Nana Prah Agyensaim VI and Professor Audrey Gadzekpo, a member of the GCF.
Also present were Hon. Isaac Agbo-Tetteh, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Lower Manya Krobo and Mrs. Irina Offei, the Municipal Director of Health of Lower Manya Krobo.
Handing over the edifice, Nana Prah Agyensaim VI, emphasized that although the Ghacem Cement Foundation exists to assist health and educational infrastructure in the deprived communities in the country, priority is given to communities close to where Ghacem mines its limestone.
"The company has set up a special fund to support communities we operate and through this fund the commissioning of this special edifice being witnessed today," he said.
Professor Audrey Gadzekpo, on her part, commended the healthcare personnel for their patience and tolerance for working at the old clinic which was in a dilapidated state and hoped the new one being commissioned will propel quality healthcare delivery in the municipality.
The Managing Director of Ghacem, Morten Gade, said the company would continue to assist more educational institutions in the country, particularly in communities where it operates.
The Municipal Director of Health of Lower Manya Krobo, Mrs.. Irina Offei on her part thanked Ghacem for the gesture and seized the occasion to entreat other corporate organizations to emulate this example from Ghacem and give back to the society what they got from them.
"Maternal and infant mortality, she bemoaned, were on the increase, hence such a facility would provide a remedy.
