The Economic Commission of the Cabinet Council last Thursday in Luanda analyzed the Draft Strategy for the exploration and trade of gold in the northern Cabinda Province, aimed at regularizing this activity.
The session took place in the meeting hall of the Presidential Palace, under the chairmanship of President José Eduardo dos Santos.
According to the press communiqué of the meeting, the Draft Strategy for the exploration and trade of gold in the northern Cabinda Province is intended to regularize the artisanal exploration activity, trade of gold and create the conditions to carry out a survey on the geological potential of the region.
The draft also touches on the problem of illegal prospecting and sale of the region's gold, as well as the legality of the rights bestowed in the companies and consortiums involved in this activity.
The Economic commission was also informed about the Draft Presidential Decrees that approve the general bases for the Exploration of Railway Services and the General Regulation on Commuters Train Service.
The same organ also analyzed the Preliminary Study on the Application of an Importation Tariff System to protect the national production.
The session equally analyzed the proposal for the establishment of the Angolan Regulating Agency for Food and Pharmaceutical Stuff (ARPAF) and the proposal for the creation of the National Laboratory of Reference for Control and Quality of Foodstuff, Consumption and Pharmaceutical Goods of Angola (LABONGOL-EP).
The meeting also learnt about the report on the participation of Angola in the 48th annual meeting of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), held on 27-31 May this year in Marraquexe, Morocco, having approved the proposal of Angola's participation in the 13th Development Support Fund of the AfDB.
Finally, the Economic Council checked the memorandum on the Publication of Government's Fundamental Documents, following the recommendation of the Cabinet Council made in its session of 29 May of 2013, having approved the Budget for the actions to be carried out in the year 2014.
